Ascalon has been a child of the dark since birth. He was the product
of an evil Dragon Charge raping a human. However, his father did not
abandon him as most rapists would. He stole Ascalon from the woman and
raised him to be evil in the dark, rocky cliffs of the Obsidian Peaks.
These shadow-darkened mountains were the home of an evil sect named
the Order of the Ebon Hand, mysterious creatures who have the power to tap
into the ancient energy of the dark itself. Ascalon's father was the
leader of this order. With his power to turn any dragon to the dark, his
father was a formidable opponent. On the other hand, like father...like
son.
Ascalon betrayed his father. At the age of 101, he killed the
Dragonlord using a power his father could not obtain, the Black Flame.
This flame, said to be the essence of darkness, burns the humanity out of
anyone it touches. The power was given to him by the Order because they
saw his father's weakness and Ascalon's apparent lack thereof. Ascalon's
father always longed for the finer things in life. He surrounded himself
with gold and promiscuous women. These longings not only made him weak,
they made him human, giving the black flame something to burn out of him,
burning his soul in the process.
After the former king's destruction, Ascalon took the throne and his
father's powers for himself, but without the material possessions and
slaves for if he ever has any humanly want or desire, the power of the
black flame will betray him and burn him alive as it did his father. He
now rules the Order as the Black Lord of Dragons and has an alliance with
the Dark Lord who he also sees as weak, but refrains from trying to take
his place. Is it because he fears the Lord's power or does Ascalon have
something else in mind for His Evilness?
