Birthplace: Vohl
Tyberius's life began in Vohl, a small community of Frostlings in the
icy northern fields located in the shadow of Mount Vorlan. The area is
always covered with a soft blanket of white from the nearly constant
snowfall. Large patches of evergreen trees make up the local forests and
nearby, fast moving rivers provide sources of water. Many other Frostling
towns occupy the area, but are spread out due to available living space in
the land of ice. The closest town to Vohl, Kabel, takes about a day's
worth of travel to reach.
Tyberius was born to Vohl's greatest hunter, Kasan. A strong and proud
warrior, Kasan was well respected by the entire town and its elders. He
was large in stature like the other Frostling men and had great skill in
tracking and wielding the traditional fighting weapon of the Meridan
family, a double-bladed axe. Ty's older brothers, Syrus and Kyngston,
looked and acted very much like their father: Tall and well built bodies
with dark hair and eyes accompanied by a commanding presence and a knack
for hiding sympathetic emotions.
Ty, however, took more after their mother, Serina. He is smaller in
height and muscular size than his 7'0'' brothers and inherited his
mother's white hair and pale blue eyes. He also exhibited more compassion
than Syrus and Kyngston. This was the source of much ridicule from his
siblings, but Ty was not affected by the teasing. Kasan, known for seldom
showing emotion, told his youngest son that it did not take a strong body
to hold the community together, but a strong heart. Ty believed in his
father and took his words seriously. Still, believing that all his sons
should know how to fight and hunt to survive, Kasan taught Ty as much as
he could. Ty was physically weaker and was not capable of fighting with
the axe so his father had the town blacksmith fashion swords for him, twin
rapiers thinner and lighter than most swords, though Ty rarely used them
living in a village so far from others. He was also taught at a young age
to capture fish and hunt other animals with a spear.
Ty's life continued as normal until the age of eighteen, when Kasan,
Syrus, and Kyngston went on a hunting trip and never returned. A search
party was dispatched immediately that included Ty, but the missing men
were never found. Ty was the only one to continue looking even after the
rest had given up hope. For the first time he wished to be as good at
tracking as his father was. However, hope can only last so long before it
is lost. Ty gave up the search and concentrated on taking care of his
ailing mother. Since the disappearence, Serina had fallen into a state of
depression and seemed to give up on living. Her remaining son tried to
keep everything together. Hunting, housework, and caring for Serina, but
it was too much for the nineteen-year-old boy to handle. His mother died
of sickness and he was left alone.
Three years later, Tyberius still lives in Vohl. He wants to search
beyond the borders of the Frostling territory for his brothers and father,
but he is afraid to leave the safety of the town because then he will
truly be alone.
Despite his past, Ty tries to maintain a playful dispostion when
around others. He prefers that no one feel sorry for him and often refuses
to talk about his past to prevent that pity. He would rather not be alone
and finds much comfort in the company of others. Tyberius realizes that he
may be the last of his bloodline and is therefore obligated to procreate,
but he cannot deny his preference of males to females. He longs for the
warm and powerful embrace of another man, but refrains from pursuing a
relationship while living in Vohl to keep the others from losing even more
respect for the "lone runt" of the village.
